The old pub has been good to us for so many years, and although I have neglected her for the last few years, her memory still lives long in my heart.

Ballina Soccer Carnival On Sunday - Draws Available

Friday, June 13th, 2008

The Ballina Soccer Club Junior Carnival is still on this Sunday, promising to be lots of fun for the kids who have not had much soccer lately due to the wet weather. The carnival page has now been updated to provide the lists of draws and rules for the different age groups. Please make sure you take a look to see where you need to be Sunday Morning.

Please note that all forms and monies need to be handed in by 9.00am. Kim and other volunteers will be in the canteen to collect copies of nomination forms. All fields will be clearly marked out for your convenience.

There have been some minor changes due to a lack of teams. We have ensured that there are plenty of tournament matches to be played and lots of fun to be had.

Coaches have a responsibility to referee some games. Please highlight your teams games and your refereeing duties.

Please click here to go to the Junior Carnival Page

Full canteen service will be available on the day.

Thank you all and see you on Sunday!

Ballina midfielder wins player of the match in Final

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Ballina has succumbed to an unfortunate defeat in the final of the Anzac cup losing on penalties to some Lismore team.. . I don’t know which they all have the same vacant expression and shifty eyes.

The Balllina boys started proceedings well with some solid passing and constructive play only to allow the other team to net an easy goal. This however seemed to spur the seahorses on and they pushed forward repeatedly only to be denied time and again.

With Ballina enjoying the bulk of possession for the first half, the Lismore team were left looking ambulatory and disinterested, as if they were passing time until the centrelink opened the next day. This allowed Ballina to push forward and create holes with Troy Percival looking dangerous up front being supported by Shannon Macjieski (apologies for the butchering of your name dude) and Brent Manieri.

After the half time interval, the Lismore team still appeared disinterested and intent to only attack on the break. A tactic that was thwarted time and again by the Ballina backline, with big ups to Dave Betteridge, Dane Seymour, the unflappable Thommo and the webmaster himslef Lucas Wagland.

Apparently having not read (possibly due to lacking the ability to) the always entertaining football article in the local “newspaper” by their football “journalist” Lismore were again pedestrian at best after the half with Ballina able to turn concentrated pressure in to goals through a cracker from Phil Amery and penalty from Troy Percival after Cerys Hawkins expertly picked out a defenders arm in the box.

The seahorses pushed for a third goal to finish the tie, however this allowed the other team to score which brought the game back to evens. Then we scored through the ever reliable Adam Izzard and they got one back. It then went to extra time and then penalties. Afterwhich the game ended. Oh and Shaz got the player of the match. Huzzah for Shaz. Well deserved.

The Ballina squad did well in the game and should supporters should be bouyed by the teams efforts as the controlled the majority of the play and played some attractive football and created a lot of chances.

Oh and post script what the heck were the talking about in the “newspaper” article about them using the “spirit on Anzac day” to help them win? What the hell does that make us the Turks? They do actually read what he writes before they print it don’t they?

Brand New Website For BallinaSoccer.com.au

Monday, April 14th, 2008

I hope that by the time you are reading this, the site looks a little bit better and brighter than it did before. You may notice that there are a few bugs around the place, but hopefully we will iron them out over the next few days (or weeks). One of the things I would like to draw your attention to is the extra number of pages that will need work. The site is now one of the main forms of information for the Ballina Soccer Club, so we need to put - you guessed it - information on the site.

If you see a page that is empty or in need of further development, please feel free to contribute. If you do not know how to use the Admin area, send me an email and I will show you how. Alternatively, just type something up and I will post it for you.

Remember that this is your site, so please use it to let peple know what is going on.

Thanks for all those that have freely offered there ideas to the project, and we hope you continue to enjoy.
