Kids Day at Saunders Oval – Saturday 3rd Sept

Thursday, September 1st, 2011

This Saturday morning will be the last juniors round for the season and we are planning on having some fun!

There will be a Jumping Castle and a sausage sizzle, plus some other games as well.

The will also be a “Beat the Keeper” game set up for any kids who think they are good enough to slot it past the Ballina Senior Men’s top goalkeepers. Reid will be hard to beat, but if you sneakily wait for the other old keeper to jump in goals, you will probably get a prize.

Come down at around 9:00am and join in. Everyone is most Welcome.

RSA Training

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

Following on from the last post on helping out in the canteen, another way that you can help out is by getting behind the bar and serving.

To do that, all you need to do is get your RSA and turn up on a Saturday night.

RSA training is invaluable to anyone wanting to get into the Hospitality industry, so not only will you be helping your club, but you will be gaining valuable skills for the future.

Have a look at the  RSA A4 Flyer Good Sports Program, and then contact us with any questions.

Latest Version of Canteen Roster for 2011 Home Games

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

The latest version of the Canteen Roster for home games for the rest of the season has been posted on the Juniors Page.

For those of you that haven’t seen it yet, every member of the club is rostered on to do at least one shift in the canteen. If you cannot be present for your scheduled time, you will need to contact a member of your team who may be able to swap times.

The club relies on the income from the canteen to fund better services for all members, and the canteen is much more efficient when it is properly staffed. Please do your bit to help.

If there are any problems with the roster, please contact us.

‘Better Coaches, Better Football’

The education of coaches has a major impact on the quality of football in Australia. By educating coaches, we are striving to ensure that not only players of all levels, but also coaches of all levels enjoy quality football experiences that will grow their love of football and make them lifelong members of the football family. As a result, football as a whole will be better.
What are these courses?

The Grassroots Coaching Certificate is a three hour course aimed at beginner coaches and teachers of players up to 10 years of age. It is designed to give them a basic understanding of their role and to provide them with practical ideas for training sessions.

The OPTUS Small-Sided Football Instructing Referee Accreditation is a one and a half hour course designed to train children aged between 12-14yrs to manage and control under 9 & under 10 OSSF matches. With this accreditation they will be eligible to receive payment for refereeing these matches under the official Northern NSW Football Match Official Payment structure.

Player Equipment Update – Wearing of Skins, etc

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

From FFNC:

To all clubs, representative coaches, managers and referees

Further to advice that was sent to all clubs recently about the wearing of skins, I wish to again emphasise this matter following the first round of weekend fixtures.

  • Referees have been instructed to enforce “Law 4” which relates to player’s equipment.
  • Players who are identified as wearing incorrect colour skins will be asked to leave the field of play to remove them.
  • “Variations” on colour (eg shades of blue) do not constitute the wearing of the correct colour. Clubs are asked to make this known to players. There will be no re-course on the basis that “new purchases” have been made if they are of the wrong colour.
  • Players (typically females) are not permitted to wear “hair pins” or other items such as ear or nose studs (regardless) of whether they are taped.

Although I am aware from discussions with various club representatives that some people are aware of these regulations, evidence from the weekend matches would suggest that many are not or choosing to ignore this advice. The matter is not one for debate, notwithstanding personal opinions expressed about the relevance or importance of its enforcement.

PLEASE communicate this with players, coaches, officials and parents as criticism directed in relation to this matter will not change its enforcement.
