Match Reports (Sat 30/5/15)

June 4, 2015 by Toni M Leave a Comment

Grade 16

The 16s played at home today against Alstonville. Having gone down to them last time by only 1 goal we figured we had a good chance for a win today if we played well. The team played superbly well and won 4-0 after leading 2-0 at half time. First touch was improved, there was some excellent passing, stout defence, good shooting and hard fought determination all round. Goals were scored by Kye 2, George (a calmly slotted penalty, see Jessica Rose’s video post on Facebook) and Korbyn. Thanks to Dylan & Tex from the 15s who very ably filled in for us in the mid-field. Zaiden did very well in goals with a clean sheet, Todd & Tony were very solid in central defence with good communication coming from all those back three. Tom, Bonnie and Jye showed dogged determination and effort with some good passing from full back. George excelled in mid-field as did Korbyn, Joel, Dylan & Tex. Zane had a very strong game as striker with Kye, Joel & Nathan being fast & creative on the wings. An all round excellent effort everyone!

U13 South

Ballina played Workers at home this weekend and this made for a very exciting match.  The Workers side provided a much needed challenge for the Ballina team who have had some easy wins of late.  Ballina scored first but Workers played similar football to us and was able to come back soon after.  After the break we were ahead 2-1with some near misses and some great saves by both keepers.  Workers never gave up and an unlucky bounce for our keeper meant the final score was 2-2, a fair result for both teams.  Stand out features were the great passing combinations and never say die attitude, well done team !

G11 Ospreys

We went down fighting this week.  Despite being down 5 nil at half time we didn’t give up.  Absolute determination and 100% effort saw the boys dominate play in the second half.  It wasn’t enough to come away with a win but it made for a very proud set of parents.  Great jobs done by Lachlan in defence and by Taj in midfield.  The Players award this week went to Noah for his passing skills and Club award to Anthony for his work under pressure in the goal.
