i agree with duncan in that this is a amateur sport and we are not hundred thousand dollar a week players, though some of us probably think we are but as it stands their is a coach who picks his premier squad of the best players in the club who have made themselves eligible to play premiers and we train twice a week. Obviously it is difficult for for everyone to train both nights and langy is understanding of this. i believe that each saturday we should put our best possible team on the paddock, judged on performances in past games, training, the position that you play, daneo's ability as a striker, the game plan, suspensions and injuries.
in terms of fees the committee is very helpful with payments, a luxury most other clubs do not offer, and whilst the fees have gone up this year, it is just a fact of life, we all have ample time between deciding that we will play again this season and the first comp game to tuck away money each fortnight, it may mean a night or two off the turps but hey...

I think we need to look at this sensibly though. None of us are getting paid for this. Therefore you can't expect people to make it to training every night of every week. Some people have to work nights and this can't be avoided. Alternatively some people have family to look after and can't always make it to training. i have been in both of these boats and have also gone to every training session some years.

As it stands at the moment Estelle works nights and there will be times when i can't make it to 2 nights a week training. However when i miss a night I make sure the other night I train as hard as possible. From my opinion its better to train as hard as you can 1 night a week than train half arsed two nights a week.

The big thing here is that I make it to the training sessions I can, when I'm not there its not like I'm just sitting in a pub drinking beer. beyond that if you are making it to every training you can and playing well on the field you should be able to play in reserves. Premiers should probably be expected to make it two nights a week. But again it should be remembered that this isn't our living and we have other responsibilities.

As far as fees though I think its a completely different kettle of fish. If you don't pay your fees you should NOT take the field in fornt of someone who has in any grade. Why should someone who has paid their fees be expected to sit on the bench because someone else has paid their fees because they drank or inbibed them all. Arrangements can be made with the club to pay your fees off a bit at a time so there should be no reason why anyone should not be paying their fees.

Seriously think about it. Stay at home one weekend and you'll save an easy $100. Or just go home early and save $40. Theres a large chunk of your fees gone.

It's a big call to sit someone out each week but at the end of the day Premier Division is serious and we're there to win as many games as possible. I'd say we've all been on the bench when we thought we should've started and it sucks but results is what really counts in Premier Division.
Having said all that so far this season I don't think this issue really is an issue luckily enough.

this question is always being thrown around year in, year out.
With the higher grades you cannot afford to lose valuable competition points and risk being relegated. Ultimately the decision should be with the coach.
